What’s it like to work with the earth, sustain a viable organic farm, and bring wholesome, delicious produce to people’s plates? Well, it ain’t easy, and Graham Sparrow tells all: the impossibility of living up to the vegan ideal, the rewards of voluntary simplicity, and the empowerment that comes from growing our own food. Graham also discloses some of the dirty little secrets of non-veganic farming, like the use of blood meal, bone meal, and fish liquid to enrich the soil. Honestly, it’s gross, and I appreciated Graham’s honesty regarding the day-to-day realities of making a living farming the land. It’s not the faint of heart, and we’re lucky to have people like Graham in the game!
