As they say, we can’t choose what happens to us; we can only choose how we respond. Often it comes down to a choice between victimhood and empowerment – and Karen Kenney chose the latter. After her mother’s brutal murder, Karen would have had every justification in the world for considering herself a helpless victim. Instead, she turned her energy to helping the beings that don’t get to make any choices over their own existence – the animals in our so-called “food” system, medical labs, and beyond.
In this week’s episode I got to chat with Karen, who, I learned, has some uncanny things in common with the protagonist of my novel Marrying Myself, Julia Jones. They lived in Boston and went to Boston University, they’re both vegan, and they both tragically lost their mothers at an early age. Clearly, Karen and I are cosmically connected!
Karen is now lives in NH, and she’s been vegan for 23 years. She’s a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Podcast Host, and Life Coach, and you’ll see why she’s known for her storytelling, sense of humor, Boston accent and down-to-earth, no-bullshit approach to spirituality, self development, and transformational work. She’s been a yoga teacher for 25 years, and she’s also an author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show podcast. Enjoy this conversation with Karen Kenney!
